CSSD is not only to manage efficiency, economy, and patient safety but also to maintain consistent high standards for sterilization technique and decontamination process quality throughout the hospital.

The Central Sterile Supply Department is responsible for sterilizing instruments/materials/equipment to the clinical areas of the hospital.

Services provided by CSSD include decontamination, packaging, sterilization and distribution of sterile supplies for use in clinical areas within the hospital are

To provides operating theatres/rooms, wards, department equipment and materials for sterile procedures

To provides operating theatres/rooms, wards, department equipment and materials for sterile procedures

To collect Green laundry from OT/OR, Dressing, Interventional/Invasive Procedural Department, Emergency, etc. by the CSSD, it is then sorted, checked, folded and autoclaved to provide sterile packs for the relevant department

· To collect all used instruments/equipment from clinical areas of the hospital.

· Processing of all contaminated instruments and equipment (cleaning, packing and sterilising)

· Operation of sterilising equipment/machinery

· Delivery of sterile instruments, materials and equipment to the clinical areas of the hospital.

· Provision of instruments and equipment as requested for research.

· Recording and storage of all sterility checks under taken in the department

· Stock control of all instruments/equipment in the CSSD

· Ordering of new instruments/equipment as approved by the Hospital Clinical Procurement Committee.

· Replacement of old/broken instruments to ensure a high quality product is supplied to clinical areas.
